  • Five years recent experience and proven track record in supervising or managing a department where accuracy and timeliness of data is central to the performance of the function.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate people to meet department objectives.
  • Masters degree preferred.

Physician Management Group/Children's Specialists - San Diego, CA

JOB PURPOSE:  Under the general supervision of the Sr. Vice President, Human Resources, the incumbent will assume responsibility for ensuring that all Foundation physicians and mid-level practitioners are credentialed/recredentialed in accordance with NCQA standards.  Responsible for ensuring Foundation physicians/practitioners have appropriate credentials (including malpractice insurance and hospital privileges) to begin and continue employment and are promptly added to the Payors/Plans panels to ensure timely reimbursement. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

1. For Foundation Credentialing Committee:  Conducts credentialing/recredentialing of all  Foundation physicians/practitioners to include reviewing applications from physicians and primary source documents from Credentialing Solutions; advises the Medical Director regarding applicants, findings and credentialing status of physicians/practitioners, submitting Rosters, applications/profiles to Payors/ Plans and tracking when physicians/practitioners are added by the  Payors/Plans.

2. Staffs the Foundation Quality Improvement (QI)/Risk Management (RM) Committee; prepares agenda and materials in conjunction with the Medical Director and presents materials and information as appropriate.

3. Request the identified Quality of Service (QOS) and Quality of Care (QOC) information from variety of sources.

4. Prepares and conducts delegation annual audits with Plans/Payors and completes corrective action plans as necessary. 

5. Provides ongoing monitoring and review of the Medical Board of California Hot Sheet and Medicare/Medicaid Sanction Reports and presents to Committee. Monitors expiring documents.

6. Maintains (real time) and modifies database which stores credentialing data such as additions/terminations, credentialing documents, name/address changes etc.  Runs queries and creates reports for distribution and provides statistical data on request.

7. Maintains all Norcal practitioners applications and Professional Liability Insurance.

8. Work directly with our Broker to produce Professional Liability Insurance Certificates.

9. Conducts recruitment meetings with RCHSD/UCSD Medical Staff to track practitioners coming and leaving.

10. Write and update Policies and Procedures (as necessary)

11. Work on projects as requested by the Health Plans, Broker, and Contracts Staff.

12. Prepare presentations for Medical Director's semi-annual shareholder meeting

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Participates in meetings regarding Professional Liability insurance to enhance understanding of issues. 

2. Attends meetings as appropriate

3. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS;

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Decision Making:  Knowledge of NCQA guidelines and industry timeframes.  Makes decisions based on company policy, practice and previous assessments of similar situations under normal circumstances.  Must alert management and make recommendations for resolution when extenuating circumstances arise that are complex in nature and outside of normal parameters. 

Business relationships/communication: Communicates regularly, usually via telephone and email, with physicians/physician staff, plan/payors, co-workers and management, in a professional cooperative manner to obtain necessary materials, identify issues, solve problems and make appropriate decisions.   Possesses strong communication skills. 
 
EDUCATION: 

  • Some college required.
  • College degree preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE:  

  • Prior experience as a Credentialing Coordinator/Provider Relations Representative preferred.
  • Previous experience in a detail oriented fast paced environment required.
