EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL STAFF Western Medical Center Anaheim, a community-based, 188-bed, acute care facility, has been serving the City of Anaheim and its surrounding communities since 1975. More than 300 physicians practice at the hospital, along with over 600 professional, technical and administrative personnel who provide care to newborns, adults and seniors. We are currently seeking an Executive Director of Medical Staff who will work under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer of the hospital and in consultation with the Chief Nursing Officer and Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for the development, interpretation, and application of departmental policies and procedures. As part of the hospital's quality improvement program, the successful candidate will facilitate and carry out quality planning, monitoring and improvement activities of the Medical Staff Department and the Medical Staff. The Executive Director of Medical Staff will have fiscal and personnel responsibility for the department. The Executive Director will work with Physicians on issues and areas of opportunities as well as manage the Medical Staff Office, which includes a Director. He/She will remain current on new laws regulations and directives and will be responsible for ensuring all State, Federal and other regulatory agency requirements are met. Assures the credentialing process has a stable operating platform from which to deliver effective and efficient services. Interfaces with the Department Chairs to facilitate the seamless flow of every service provided by the Medical Staff Office. This involves processing all new applications, reappointments, resignations and status changes of medical and allied health professional staffs; maintaining a computerized physician database; and providing support in the development and maintenance of bylaws, rules and regulations that govern effective medical staff management. You will also be expected to oversee the budget for the Medical Staff Services Department as well as accounting processes for the Medical Staff Treasury. Additional responsibilities include maintaining all CME program documentation and attendance reports; coordinating initial physician and allied health care practitioner orientation; and maintaining the medical staff's finance checking and savings accounts. Five years' experience in Medical Staff Services Management and previous managerial/supervisory experience preferred; BA or BS degree in healthcare or business management related field preferred; and Certified Professional Medical Service Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialists (CPCS) required. Must be proficient in keyboarding and have the ability to take minutes of meetings; ability to use personal computer for word processing and e-mail required; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Office and basics of Excel preferred; and thorough knowledge of business vocabulary, grammar, punctuation and spelling required.
