Under the direction of the Director of the Medical Staff Services Department (MSSD), this Medical Staff Services Specialist manages Medical Staff Department and Committee functions of the medical staff organization, including meeting management, proctoring and specialty specific privileges and monitoring. These functions are performed in a manner that is efficient, effective and meets all internal requirements (bylaws, rules and regulations, policies and procedures) while ensuring compliance with external accreditation standards, state laws and Medicare Conditions of Participation.
The Greeley Company’s Credence Service has been the full-service provider of all Medical Staff Services at Hoag Hospital for over three (3) years and the successes achieved are noteworthy: Fully electronic credentialing and privileges with an average turn-around time from receipt to the Credentials Committee of 12 days, 100% paperless credentials files, complete currency with regard to proctoring and quality monitoring, and streamlined department and meeting structure that provides the Medical Staff with very rapid turn around and top-notch support to address what is at the forefront of our jobs...patient safety and quality of care.
As of June 1, 2017, The Greeley Company’s Credence Service assumed responsibility for Medical Staff Services at Mission Hospital and less than a month later, we are well on our way to achieve those successes at Mission. The Medical Staff Services Department at Mission Hospital is spacious and clean, is located directly across from the “Shops at Mission Viejo,” so there is always a little something to do at lunch, has easy access to freeways and toll roads and is located in the heart of a clean, safe, public transportation (trains) system.
Qualifications - Required:
- At least 2 years of experience in a hospital-based Medical Staff Services Department, at least 1 of which must include meeting management, taking minutes and conducting follow-up actions.
- High school diploma or GED/California High School Proficiency.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft products, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Credentialing database management
Qualifications - Preferred:
- 5 years of experience in a hospital-based Medical Staff Services Department, at least 2 of which include meeting management, taking minutes and conducting follow-up actions.
- College Degree
- 1+ years of experience with MD Staff.
- Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM)
- Experience in California including application of Title XXII standards
