The California Association Medical Staff Services awards
the Mindel Spiegel scholarship annually only if there are applicants who
qualify as determined by the Scholarship Committee of the Association.
Those CAMSS members and students who are enrolled or planning
to enroll at a college or university in a course of study in Allied Health
Sciences approved by the CAMSS Scholarship Committee are eligible to apply.
Approval need not necessarily be prior to application as request for approval
may be implicit with the application. The application process includes
the following:
- All applicants must submit an official
California Association Medical Staff Services Scholarship Committee
Application form completed in its entirety. An application is considered
complete when the form and all required supporting documents have been
received by the Committee.
- Applicants must provide descriptive
materials related to the current or planned educational activity for
which the award is being sought. This material must contain information
about the cost of the activity.
- Applicants must include with the
application a 500-word typewritten statement describing past, present
and planned personal contributions to the medical staff management profession,
including a brief narrative outlining how participation in the proposed
educational activity will be of benefit to the applicant, both professionally
and personally.
- Applicants must submit a letter of
recommendation from a individual familiar with the applicant’s
most recent work product and/or educational experiences.
- All applicants will be measured by identification
of the degree of compliance with the following criteria:
- commitment to educational growth
as a medical staff management professional;
- commitment to the enhancement
of professionalism in the field of medical staff management;
- demonstration of a sincere enthusiasm
and support for the goals of the California Association Medical
Staff Services;
- future benefits to the Association
as a result of the requested educational assistance; and,
- evidence of dedication to higher
aspirations and the desire of achievement of excellence consistent
with the standards espoused by the Association and its educational
mission.
- In addition, applicant must provide
the Scholarship Committee proof of enrollment in the current or planned
educational activity at a time consistent with the program description
materials submitted with the application. Failure to do so will require
a return of the financial award to the Scholarship Committee.
