Objectives:
1) Learn about recent changes to California scope of practice laws affecting physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and certified nurse midwives.
2) Learn what changes medical staffs will need to make to their Bylaws, Rules and privileging documents in response to the scope of practice changes.
3) Learn what information will need to be shared with Medical Staff leaders and credentials committee members as a result of the change in scope of practices,
4) Learn tips for assuring that PAs, NPs, and CNMs do not unintentionally practice outside their scopes of practice.
The presentation method for this activity will be didactic with a Q&A period and will be evaluated by each participant at the conclusion of the lecture. The activity content is targeted towards Medical Staff Services Professionals, VPMAs, Medical Directors, Physician Leadership and healthcare professionals involved with licensure survey and hospital accreditation compliance.
